LESSON 5

Set yourself  three targets:
1. To keep articulating and pacing what I am saying so that it suits how my character feels and what my character wants.

2. To make sure I project to all areas of the room so everyone in a traverse audience will be able to hear me clearly.

3. To characterise my words so that I can come across to the audience as if it's the first time I've heard what the other character is saying.

Reflect on the targets set:  Have they been achieved? How?

I achieved my first target by making sure my tongue and jaw are warmed up properly during our warm ups so I can clearly form the words I need to say. I find that these warm ups help a great deal with everyone in the class and not just me.

I don't think I have achieved my second target just yet because I feel I have been more observant on my diction and articulation than on my projection. This will be one of my targets for next week and I will definitely work on this.

I have achieved this by once again by using the notes on my script (see lesson 6 for the notes) to evaluate my character's objective and the subtext behind the actual lines. My character's objective put simply was: To tell her how he feels.
